I am learning about pollution! 🙂 Pollutants are gases and chemicals that get into our air and it affects our environment. I am learning about road salt, acid rain, and fertilizer. Road salt: salt that you put on the road when it’s snowy or icy out. When the salt dissolves, and the ice melts, the cars that run over it, the snow/salt gets onto the sides, the salt “burns” the plants causing the roots to stop growing and the pants die. Acid rain: sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide combine in the clouds from factory’s and fossil fuels. The smoke or dioxide comes out of the clouds as acid rain, snow, sleet, fog, or dry particle’s. Fertilizer: particle’s that are in your plants that can kill them if the plant has too much.
I am experimenting all of them by planting rye grass and putting road salt, fertilizer, and acid rain in there own plant. I think the acid rain is going to do most damage to the rye grass because it seems more dangerous than the other two. I could help pollution by riding the bus instead of riding in one individual car.
